1.Using only your notes and charts from the reading last night, answer the following short answer test questions on a separate sheet of paper:
Compare and contrast archaeology and anthropology.
Create a chart that shows the four groups of early humans, when each group existed, and what they could do.
Describe the importance of the use of fire to early humans.
Describe what Paleolithic life was like for men and women.
2. How did you do?
Trade your paper with a partner (if you did not do your homework, find another slacker and get to work!)
With a colored pencil, underline any specific information your partner wrote down to answer the question. Do not underline any information that is too general ("no duh!"). They must provide specific detail from the book!
Go over the first question as a class to figure out the difference between specific and general information.
If your partner gave 5 pieces of specific detail that accurately answers the question, give them full credit.
3. After grading all four questions, get your paper back to see how you did. Would you have done well on your test? Did you do enough to prepare? As a class, use your notes and book to find as much detail as you can for each question. Be sure to record what you come up with on your charts! These will be the actual short answer questions on the test! 4.Go to "SAS in Schools" for an investigation into Paleolithic cave art.
Type in "northwood" as your user name in the top right-hand corner. No password necessary.
Type "578" as your Quick Launch number (QL#) and click on "Go."
The directions and websites will appear in a new window. Copy the "Cave Art: Questions to Consider" on a separate sheet of paper, leaving room to answer the questions as you go. (Doing one at a time is best!) Enjoy!
5.HW: Read 1.2. Your homework tonight is to read the second section of Chapter 1 in the textbook and take notes in your reading guide charts.
PRE-READING!!! Do yourself a big favor!
Study the timeline on the first page to get a general idea of the time period.
Study the pictures and read the captions.
Scan through the headings to see how the information is organized.
Look at the "Section Review" questions at the end of each section.
As you read, use any information you can to fill in the rest of your charts from yesterday's Chapter 1 Reading Guide.
